Decolonize Judaism

Learn how to live a life of integrity, accountability, and joy by undoing the effects of capitalism, anti-semitism, colonization, racism, and white supremacy on our people.

Why This Course?

Because as Jewish People, We Need To Heal From Capitalism and Colonization.

Whatever part of the world our Jewish people are from, we have all been heavily impacted by the entry of our people into capitalism albeit in different ways. We now face assimilation, Anti-Semitism, attempted cycles of genocide, racism, white supremacy, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or any and all of the above, because we are inside the system. We got here both by force AND by choice.

In this course we will explore what this means for the Jewish soul with questions like:

  • What layers of assimilation do we need to peel back to live a life of honor and integrity?

  • How can we be good guests on stolen Native lands?

  • How do we cultivate our own authentic connection to land?

What you’ll get

  • ✺ Values

Together we will learn how to walk out of capitalism and towards Indigeneity by focusing on Indigenous values and using them to guide our behavior.

  • ✺ Tools

You will be given concrete tools to work on behavior change so that you know how to be a good friend to yourself, other Jews, and Indigenous peoples.

  • ✺Community

None of us can do this alone. We need each other to make sense of our experiences, share our triumphs and sorrows, and to build a better future together.

  • ✺ Framework

Indigenous teachings guide us so that we have standards for how to behave. They give us context to be ourselves in and a path to becoming responsible community members.

  • ✺ Love

We do this work by being gentle with ourselves, one step at a time. There is no rush, judgement, or harshness. Only love. For ourselves and for each other.

  • ✺ Healing

When we understand the full weight of how oppressive capitalism is and the position that our people have within it, we have choices. We can choose to say no to colonization, dig deep into our roots as Jews, and heal.

  • What People Are Saying About The Course:

Decolonize Judaism was one of the most meaningful courses I have ever participated in, because it goes far beyond simply being a class. Rosa's ability to foster intimate community through firm, loving, and informed guidance enabled me to turn inward without fear. She teaches without telling, and allows space for everyone to speak and show up as we are. Decolonize Judaism enabled me to truly feel through and embody concepts which had always felt over-intellectualized or off-limits, such that the end of the course was really a beginning. I am so grateful for the people and ideas this course connected me with, and deeply recommend it to anyone working to untangle how Judaism fits into their path of tikkun olam.

  • What People Are Saying About The Course:

I had the honor of taking the March 2024 Decolonizing Judaism class facilitated by Rosa and it was one of the most enriching and community building spaces I have ever experienced. The sessions were full of such wise, powerful, and transformative paradigm shifting stories, information, and reflections accompanied with space and time devoted to bringing out and sharing my own thoughts, histories, memories, and emotions. I was also honored to meet 9 other people who began as strangers and who quickly became long lost kin - including Rosa. Each class was a gift & necessary space to zap out of the capitalist colonialist assimilating nightmare to explore, imagine, and study transformative, and Indigenous ways to heal ourselves, our ancestors, our communities, and the land. I often find myself in discussions with others talking about lessons learned from this class and I can feel how these lessons will stick with me and guide the rest of my journey. I did not realize how much of a spiritual & communal void I had - and I feel like I have been introduced to so many tools in this class to heal these wounds especially in community. Rosa is an INCREDIBLE speaker - reminding me how oral storytelling is the most impactful way to facilitate connection & generate knowledge. This class is one of the best investments I have made and I cannot recommend this class highly enough!

  • What People Are Saying About The Course:

Rosa connected a lot of dots for me, both specifically with regard to my Jewish heritage, and in general as a human living in late stage capitalism. I hear about decolonization a lot in the abstract, but it's rare and precious to find someone who can break it down into tangible steps. I would recommend this class to every Jewish person in the world.

  • What People Are Saying About The Course:

From start to finish, your course was unlike any I had taken before. Part learning-corner, part sharing-space, the boundaries you set in place from the beginning allowed us all to cultivate a sense of shared purpose and to love and accept where on our journeys we are, as we are. I grew alongside that community, though I never knew it was there.

Now I know, even with my eyes closed, my community is here, and we hold each other and our shared purpose. What that purpose is continues to evolve as we do.

Thank you for your care and the effort, experience, knowledge and wisdom you shared with me. Your decision to speak truth in such a vulnerable time has impacted my life for the better. Thank you.
