5 Minute Water Meditations

I recorded both of these 5 minute meditations as I was at two different water falls while visiting friends in Upstate New York. It is my regular practice to go on walks outside three to four times a week to connect to the beauty of the world, replenish my spirit, and be with my higher power. It is humbling and joyous just to be present. I looked up at a waterfall and couldn’t believe how full and abundant it was, and this first meditation came out all at once, my higher power flowing through me as the water does at this river. The second meditation was recorded as my feet were in a quiet creek. I was thinking about a chapter I had read in Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan’s book Waters Of Eden: Mysteries of Mikveh and concepts about forgiveness in teachings from Native/Indigenous elders that I have heard. I am grateful for the opportunity that I was given by Reconstructing Judaism to write these meditations about water. I am always delighted when I can engage with the Jewish community as myself, a Muisca raised Colombian woman first and fully. Water is very important to my Native/Indigenous people. It part of our creation stories and where our sacred sites are. It is from this perspective that I approach my work as a Mikveh Guide and Water Follower. I hope that they bring you peace and wellness. We could all use more of those.
